Netflix CEO on Tremendous Growth Opportunity in Indian Market

This past week, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings reported at the Economic Times Global Business Summit in New Delhi on how India is the fastest growing market for digital streaming services. It makes sense that one of the world’s largest populations largely untapped by OTT (over the top content) platforms is fueling what Hastings believes to be Netflix’s opportunity for 100 million new subscribers.

Netflix entered the Indian market only two years ago and was able to make such huge strides right out of the gate thanks to the support from India’s leading telecom company, Reliance Jio. Netflix’s world-class content paired with Jio’s large existing consumer base is a winning formula. The opportunity for content producers to create Hollywood-quality, culturally relevant films and shows for the Indian marketplace is tremendous. It is a very exciting time in the international M&E industry, and we can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
